The Iliad at the Library of Alexandria

Alexandria, Egypt, October 21, 2008

In partnership with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Readers brought the Iliad to this reborn institution of classical learning in Alexandria, Egypt. This extraordinary multi-lingual reading highlighted Ahmad Etman's Arabic translation of the poem.  It also featured a performance by the renowned oral poet Sayed El-Dawi, who sang verses from the great epic Al-Sira al-Hilaliya.

Major support provided by the American Center Alexandria.
