ΟΔΥΣΣΕΙΑ: A Public Participatory Reading of Homer's Odyssey

In Collaboration with Giorgos Gripeos, "an odyssey"

At Nieuw Dakota

Amsterdam, Netherlands • July 14, 2018

Produced in collaboration with EllinikoTheatro and visual artist Giorgos Gripeos, this innovative reading took place in the context of a multi-faceted art installation about our migratory times and their effect on human relationships. The project was presented as part of the Over Het IJ Festival and was live-streamed to the ferry connecting Westerdokdijk with the NDSM.

We are honored to have read from Emily Wilson’s celebrated new translation – the first-ever by a woman in English – and to have been joined by the Amsterdam-based improvisational vocal group Genetic Choir.

The reading was supported by Amsterdams Fond voor de Kunst, Mondriaan Fond, The Andres Mata Foundation, and Roberta Nevers.
